  • (posted 6/22/11) I am happy to announce the marriage of Ron and Patty Ingrassia on May 22, 2011. Ron, as you know is the creator of this website, and Patty is the former Patty Crow a retired teacher from Rockford. They say that a little rain on your wedding day brings good luck so we should have special happiness as we had a hailstorm and tornado warnings that day!

We were married in the old church at Midway Village by a Methodist Minister and a Catholic Deacon (Pete Calgaro an old friend from the West High Class of 60) in a beautiful ceremony followed by dinner at Franchesco's and an evening reception at the Lombardi Club. Carl Maggio, from our class, was the best man and Cory Geary, daughter of the Bride, was the Matron of Honor.

The honeymoon will be in Italy (some day) but meanwhile we traveled to western Kansas and Missouri for Patty's High School Reunion and will be traveling to Oklahoma soon for Patty's family reunion.

She lost her husband David Schams Aug 1, 2009 when they were living in Sun City, AZ. Later, when her son, Ron, asked her to join him and his family on the mission field in Cambodia she jumped at the invitation. On March 15, 2011 she arrived back in the USA after spending a year in Cambodia. She decided to move close to her late husband's daughter in West Salem, WI.

No doubt Peggy has many stories to tell of her life in Cambodia and we are hoping she may find the time to commit them to paper and allow us to publish them here for our classmates to read.

After being on the missing list since shortly after he attended the 25th reunion, Gary discovered the magic of Google and found our website. He is now living in Sarasota Florida where he moved after taking a very early retirement. Prior to that he had been involved in various enterprises in Rockford. Gary was married to Sharon Clark who died of lung cancer in April of 2000 after 38 years together. He has two children and his mother is still alive at 93. We welcome Gary back with us and hope he will find a way to join us for a visit at a future reunion.

This was brought to our attention by Judy (Provasi) VanHeesch who is good friends with Ethelyn's daughters in the Rockford area. The service is Thursday February 10, 2011 having been delayed due to some difficulty transporting the remains to Rockford. To add to the confusion, her daughter in Noth Carolina died a few days after Ethelyn. See the obituary for more details.
